LATEST STORIES.... ODD SPOT Bangkok’s new international airport, plagued by everything from cobras to corruption, will be fully operational next year, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra vowed before boarding a test flight into the facility. Before the flight into Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thaksin and other officials assured reporters that various avian and reptilian problems - some of which posed potential safety hazards - were near resolution. “The problem of cobras, water monitor lizards and rats is being resolved by nature itself since we have more than 30,000 workers building the airport. They catch and eat the cobras and lizards,” said Somchai Sawadiphol, the airport’s deputy managing director. - The Associated Press
