ANOTHER RECORD YEAR FOR THE SAFETY SHOW: 29% MORE POPULAR
There were 10,370 visits to The Safety Show over its three days in October. Running concurrently with the trade show, THE SAFETY CONFERENCE drew 583 delegates to hear from 80 speakers addressing diverse topics from dealing with fatigue to the lessons of the Waterfall and Longford disasters. Endorsed by the Safety Institute of Australia and sponsored by workplace safety authority, WorkCover NSW, The Safety Show and The Safety Conference have grown dramatically since the inaugural event in 2003. Aside from the increase in visitor numbers, the show was physically 25% larger this year, with 350 exhibitors spanning 13,500 square metres of the Sydney Showground venue. The Safety Show and Conference is matched by Melbourne’s long-running Safety In Action show and conference, which will next year run 16-18 May. The success of both events has prompted organisers to announce a new show - the QUEENSLAND SAFETY SHOW, which will be held for the first time from 21-23 June at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organiser, Australian Exhibitions & Conferences’ Marie Kinsella said that although the Brisbane show was not expected to reach the size of the Melbourne and Sydney events, it would appeal to a whole new set of visitors.
